Dragon Ball Z takes over New York Anime Fest


NY Anime Festival celebrated Dragon Ball Z’s 15th anniversary with the premier of its rerelease in HD hosted by special guests: Chris Sabat, Justin Cook and Sean Schemmel. Throughout the weekend free DBZ headbands were given out in the showroom which filled the convention halls with hundreds of Super Saiyans. It was truly a blast from the past as we revisited this childhood favorite.

New York Comic Con and Anime Festival 2011 Pictures

New York’s two-in-one convention, Comic Con and Anime Festival, took over Manhattan this past weekend at the Jacob Javits Convention Center for a four day event. Even though Comic Con has already been around for six years, this was only the second year for its sister convention Anime Festival. NYC has been lacking a good anime convention ever since Big Apple Anime Fest shut its doors permanently back in 2004.

Ani Mini Con Review: A chibi con in New York City

Cosplayers at Ani Mini Con

Ani Mini Con has proven that great things really do come in small packages. The chibi convention took over the second week of August with three days of art, music and most importantly lots of anime. Friday started out with the screening of Chocolate Underground and a cosplay reception. While on Saturday, attendees enjoyed cosplay art by Stephen Tang and guest speakers Lizbeth Jimenez and Brian Mah. After a short break the gallery was turned into a music venue where artists like NoirceuR and The Asterplace performed; and even the Con’s own president played her violin to various anime clips.
